• The power supply in Greece is 220 V AC at 50 Hz. You may require an adapter for the round two-pin sockets in use in Greece.
• A flight from Athens to Chania is less than an hour (http://en.aegeanair.com/Default.aspx); taking the boat, including getting to the Pireas port can consume better part of a day and can prove more expensive!
• One-way bus ticket from Chania to Heraklion (island's capital) is 10 euro.
• Speed boat takes you from Heraklion to Santorini in under 3 hours (http://www.cretetravel.com/To_and_from_Crete/Ferries_Crete_Santorini.htm#Catamaran); regular ferry boat in under six. (but at almost 2.5 X less cost!)
• You can eat at a fraction of what you'd pay by the sea-side restaurants by walking off the "bitten track".
